bottom line housekeeping notes

So, that video nearly exhausted me.  But I have yet to say a little bit more about cloth diapers.  Flat diapers, which used to be the norm, are now becoming more difficult to find, as most people who cloth diaper are moving towards pre-made fitted diapers.

But for the adventuresome or the impoverished or the frugal, flat diapers may fill the bill.  I like them because they always fit so perfectly around the legs (primary leak zone for the uninitiated), and because they dry so quickly.  And if your drier breaks down (catastrophic for homes with several children) you can just hang them up anywhere and they still dry quickly.

A couple of places that supply flat diapers:
Green Mountain Diapers (US)
www.greenmountaindiapers.com

Kidalog/Babylove (Canada)
www.kidalog.com

There are probably lots of others around, but I am not in the business of reviewing diaper retailers, so I am only listing two that I have used and have been impressed with the personal service and quality of products I received.

About diaper pins.  If you decide to make the decision to use flat diapers, keep your pins in a bar of soap so they run easily through the cloth.  Or run them through your hair.  Sounds weird, but it works.

I like to get small diapers for my babies for the first six months or so, say 20-24" square diapers.  But After that I usually get bigger 27-30ish" square.  If you have a hyper big child, or they wear diapers for a ridiculous length of time, as a couple of mine did, I switch to cute patterned cotton receiving blankets for diapers.  They are huge.

Alright, I am leaving this topic for the time being.  Questions, comments, discussion or debate about diapers and all the various options are welcome for those who may be interested in this kind of thing.  I will be only too delighted to host and participate.

However, as far as posting goes...I personally would like to move on to topics of snide social commentary or adorable heart warming stories about my children.
