project 333

Welcome to my own project 333 challenge!  See post number one HERE.

I'm not a newcomer to Courtney's methods.

By the way, I'm #notanaffiliate and this series of posts has no monetary kickback via affiliate links.  Just sharing my life with y'all.

In fact, I've been cleaning, sorting, organizing with the "empty everything" out of the drawer/cupboard/box/closet ever since I read Sink Reflections years ago by Marla Cilley.  One drawer, bathroom cupboard, under the bed at a time.

Everything comes out. The space gets vacuumed or wiped down.  I used baby wipes for everything...they pick up things that a wet cloth won't.  Crumbs and all.

I only put back in what I want in there.  For the rest of the stuff, I create three bags or boxes.

  1. Garbage

  2. Donation

  3. Belongs in another room

Whatever doesn't go back in the space HAS TO go in one of the boxes.

How to decide?  If you don't love it or don't use it, get rid of it.

As I'm deciding what goes back in my closet, I have a problem.  Because I wear support stockings, I always wear long skirts or dresses in the summer.  The rest of the year I can wear knee length with tights or leggings, and it's simply too hot to wear tights in the warm months.  There are a few things in my closet that I love, but just don't wear in the spring and summer.  So when the weather gets warm, there are about eight items I'll be swapping out, to adapt to skirt/dress lengths, and winter coat for summer coat.

Also, I was fussing about shoes and formal wear.  I don't wear jewelry or accessories, really, except an occasional scarf.  Shoes are my one accessory that I really love.  So I decided to leave heels out of the equation, and use my everyday shoes in the equation.  I have peace about it.  So I've packed away several shoes and boots, and left the favourites for this three month period.

Except heels.  I've got about eight pairs of heels, four of which are ballroom dance shoes (because we do that...), so technically I don't think I need to count them.  Just trying to be transparent, here, folks.

And, for the sake of transparency, my pink blazer which is at the cleaner's presently...did get included.  See?  So honest.

My other area of struggle.  Formal clothes.  I have about four dresses that would be funeral, wedding, dance or special occasion worthy.  They stay.  Happily in my spare closet where I keep travel items and seasonal clothing.

Purses?  I love purses.  But, for the purpose of this project, I'll have one.  I'm going to swap from my leather purse to a summer, cotton bag that I love.

Dressing up isn’t usually much of an issue for me for a few reasons:

  1. I almost always wear skirts or dresses, so pretty dressed up from the outset.

  2. I like to dress up so most of my everyday clothes are kind of dressy-uppish.

  3. All my clothes must feel like pyjamas or I don’t own them, (see item #3 of this post), and so dressing up is probably less of a deal for me than some folks because it feels good. Pyjama-good.

  4. I didn’t include heels in my 33 items…so, ya.

Basically anything I own, then, would be suitable for Mass…so here’s a couple of options for Mass:

I’m almost a month into #project333

and I hafta just say.  I love it.

I have 33 items of clothing in my closet, including coats and shoes (but not heels…lame explanation HERE).

It’s so nice, my closet is just, like, airy.  As in, space between things.  Nothing there that I can’t see.  No hidden agenda.  Choosing clothes is an easy process.  My mom uni is pretty much this.  A skirt (or linen palazzo pants, which look just like a long skirt), a blouse or tank top, a cardigan.  Shoes.

Sometimes a dress.  Sometimes a blazer instead of a cardigan.  I have cardigans in quite a few colours, and just within my 33 items range there are:  denim blue, light pink, dark pink, black and orange.  I have three blazers, pink, black, yellow.

So, I can wear an all blue outfit with any one of those cardigans or blazers, or an all black outfit with anyone of those cardigans or blazers.  Or pretty much any other combination.

I heart shoes.  And so I will show you the pair I’m presently saving up for.  Shoes are self-care.
