top half full

When I was young and first had my driver's license, my father, the prophet would say, It's just as easy to keep the top half full. He meant the gas tank. But I don't think he realized that it was one of life's lessons that I have tried to apply to many areas of household chaos reduction stratagem (henceforth to be referred to as HCRS).

It's easier to plan meals ahead of time than trying to figure out what to have for dinner at 4:45 p.m.

It's easier to say I'm sorry the instant you realize you have wronged someone than to say I'm sorry after it has festered for two days.

It's easier to be caught up on the laundry than always be trying to catch up.

It's easier to not buy stuff you can't afford than to try to figure out how to pay for it when the bill comes.

It’s easier to make your needs known and met than to crumble under the weight of life.

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."  Charles Dickens

It is simply easier to keep the top half full.
